We are currently looking for volunteers who can help us in our fundraising campaign to raise funds so that we may be able to run our winter shelter for destitute asylum seekers. It may be that you have experience of fundraising and could help us put “bids” together. You might consider doing a sponsored event or raising funds through individual giving.
During our review with our guests last year they suggested that it would be helpful to have people that they could learn English with. We see this as very informal English conversation group if you feel you have the experience of running such a group and have a couple of hours to spare one or two evenings a week do get in touch with us.
Would you like to be involved in the shelter but are not a member of any of the organisations hosting? Occasionally we need cover during the evening and overnight for volunteers to help out at the shelter. This involves spending time with our guests, making them feel welcome, talking, playing games etc. If you are volunteering on the overnight shift it could be that you are on “sleep-in” or will be awake during the night.
Training and support is provided to all our volunteers.
For the specific roles of tutors and floating volunteers please note that the shelter moves every week to different locations.
If you are interested in any of the above volunteering opportunities please do get in touch with us at firstname.lastname@example.org or via our contact page and we will provide you with further information.
